    Hi

I removed all my crushed coral and I'm planning to replace it with aragonite. Do you guys think it's worth it ? The crushed coral is about 1mm - 4mm.

Does anyone have some experience with ceramic bio rock ? Is good to be used for base rock ?

    Thansk :yeahdude:

Thats the best possible thing to do. Have you removed the crushed coral already ?

Aragonite is brilliant. It also helps with buffering, calcium, strontium and magnesium but don't rely solely on it in a high demand system

definatley a good idea if finance allows for it to be done.. as for the ceramic rock you could either purchase ready made rock or make your own..

Just keep an eye on your parameters if you have removed it all at once. You may have another mini cycle.

I got around 10kg of base rock, it looks really nice - it's starting to get "browner". I read some articles and posts about aragonite and I don't feel it's worth the price. I'm rather going to go with an alternative. I have some play sand which I bought from Toy Zone. It's a brownish color but when it's under the lights it's almost pure white. Is there other play sand which is pure white even when it's under no lights ?

Another concern is its small size, it's between 0.2 - 1mm . Isn't it going to cause a sandstorm in my tank ?

And finally is it going to be worth the effort ? Btw, my crushed coral is more like 2-5mm than 1-4mm as I said previously

I have Playsand in my display and in my Sump. My water movement in my tank is over 50 times the tank volume. It was a bit of a struggle to set it up to not move the sand but its all good now.

I've replaced the crushed coral in my nano with play sand and it's looking much better imo. No sand storm fortunately. Think I'm going to change the cc in the larger tank to playsand aswell. I'll post some pics tomorrow :peroni:
