    @carlosdeandrade

Problem: "I use biocubes" and "biocubes work well for me" are both likely to occur at the same time as if they don't work people stop using them so the "Biocubes didn't work for me" is a likely single event.

The two first options are currently cannibilising each other.

One can "use" bio cubes but they may not necessarily "work for me" . So if a voter adds he "uses" bio cubes but does not add "work fo me" then there is a debate of sorts as to why. Lots of variables that one can conger up.:)

If you change the first vote to "i use and they are not working" it will remove the ambiguous factor and then you only need one vote and I think the results will be more valuable.

I don't mean to nitpick, I like a good poll and this one is interesting to me. Thanks for starting it.

Thanks. @Bendor, I agree. If the mods can change it, it would be nice.

How about adding a "I don't know if they work for me" to that list..? I'm running it in my Tank for over half a year....I never tested Nitrates and Phosphates before I added and neither have I tested since I added..

Are we talking about similar to these?

    If so.
The problem with bio cubes is that there are no problems with them if used for what they are intended.
Those being getting left over waste through all the oxidation processes by housing aerobic communities and if housed seperately with ultra slow flow in a reactor style unit, then they can be used for nitrate reduction as well by creating a man made anoxic zone.
Calcium based media out comes suppases bio cubes or ball out comes to the degree that bio cubes are renderd useless in comparison!
I havent used them for to many years to remember but I still would advise others to use them for weir over flow protectors.
For that purpose they are brilliant.

In my day they were called bio cubes and bio balls, both plastic and both used for surface area, that's what I meant.
This is about what two of our guys have been using and swear by them, my input is now useless!
    Old folks,yeh I know,lol.

if i place biocubes near the exit of my skimmer would that be enough oxygen? not so keep on a air stone and noisy pump...
i also have a zeo reactor, could i place them in there with the feed pump pulling water from the area near the exit of my skimmer?

just trying to get around the whole air pump thing...

the oxygen up take is from the water column, the bubbles allow light agitation without excess force and cost. pumps aren't noisy, i have to check that mines running and only cost R60

you want the cubes to go to the intake of your skimmer, best way to remove biomass for those that dont want to use it as food.
