bio balls

    Hi I am looking for bio balls I see everyone seems to be diching them I have about 5 at the moment that tumble around on the surface of my sump and whant to get a bit more surface area in there. On the bluff in durban btw

    They are great for a fish with live rock only setup, but not so great for a reeftank filled with corals and inverts. They convert ammonia to nitrites to nitrates very well, but stops there. So your nitrates will go up and corals and some inverts don't like that.

    Sorry for posting this here but tobes what about these bio balls :
    Dymax Bio Glass - Filter medias . Do they also do the same? Please advise me as i am currently running them.

    hi, head similar from various people that they no good. i got a boyu 550 tank and they came with that. Any suggestions what to replace them with? someone said crushed live rock, but apparently there is other items. not sure what though
