It's about 5cm tip to tip. It burrowed under the gravel the moment I put it in the tank. The hermit which is about a 1/4 of the size seems very interested, maybe considering a huge house upgrade? I don't have any "out of shell" pics yet. Looks like a big nassarius in my newbie opinion.

    Thanks Riaan.

Impulse buys are (almost) never a good idea. I phoned the lfs this afternoon and said I suspect it's a carnivore. They said I could bring it back tomorrow.

You actually bought it? Though you collected it.

They are a local species as well. They do get rather big, just smaller than tennis ball.

Thais bufo. They eat pretty much everything that moves. Be wary of the LFS....this was very likely locally collected. I've never seen one of these imported because the exporters aren't usually that dumb.

Thais bufo and the purpura looks very much alike and I always gets them the wrong way around.
But then again the purpura is also called the Purpura bufo

Thank guys. The lfs actually had quite a few large turbo's and this one was sitting with the turbos on the front glass. I picked it because it was the biggest but didn't really look at it untill I got home.

Took it back today and told them it's a 'Thai Buffalo' snail.
