big egyptian marine snail ID

    does anyone have any info on giant egyptian marine snails lol i have one and its weird looking pyramid shaped buit round and has points all over it. prob. like 4 1/2 inches tall and 5 inches around i think.. i dont know what its called and need to mkake sure its safe to have in the tank with BT anemones and maxima clams. im a newbie but live on the red sea so i find all kinds of interesting friends from the sea lol

    general rule, but not the absolute rule. If the shell opening is round, then it is reef safe, being a vegetarian. If like () , oblong long, then it is a predator.

    Also big snails can bring down your rockwork. Causing earthquakes. In a way. So even being vegetarian, they are "not" reef safe.

    i dont have a pic yet but i will take one. ok its definitely round and big and did already knock a shell decoration over and unsuctioned the thermometer from the tank side lol. kinda funny.. but hes been on the tank walls licking since i oput him in so i agree and think hes a vegetarian. but hes in a tank with 3 anemones, 1 clonefish a dark damsel and 2 maxima clams. thanks for the help. layla

    This "snail" you are talking about, sounds like a "conch" of sorts. But, posting a picture will definitely assist us in making a much better ID.

    this is the snail... i got 2 more smaller ones today i hope theyre good snails lol im not sure if it uploaded... if not ill try again

    Looks like a topshell, but a lot higher point. Let me see if I can get my snail autie online. But from where do you think they originate. Are they local Egyptians...
