    Hey guys

Am busy planning a trip up to the Kosi Bay area for a long weekend of camping, 4x4ing, fishing etc.

A mate has provisionally booked a campsite at Bhanga Nek for a few nights at the end of this month. Has anyone been there? What's it like? We know it's very rustic, no electricity etc but we are fine with that. What I'm more interested in, is what are the fishing regulations? Can you spear fish there? And perhaps more importantly, are you allowed to collect specimens? I've got equipment that would keep things alive till I get back to Durban, but need to know if it's worth even taking the gear.

Also, any other insights for things to do in the area, beautiful spots to have sundowners at, etc?

    Thanks
    Dan

Same as all over the Northcoast. Parksboard rules.

Yip, but not in the marine protected area. North of the mouth you can(rephrase... they are not so full of crap there)

Nope, they watch you thru the bushes. Even the leaves have ears

Snorkel the Aquarium (Mouth area), Visit the Lakes, take sundowner cruise on Kosibay lodge boat. Snorkel the 1st and 2nd lake. Fish the Lakes. Visit the Fish Kraals.

Dog Point, Lala Neck, Rocktail Bay, Mabibi, 14 Mile, 07 Mile, Crayfish Creek, The lakes...

    Hope it answers your questions.
Take fishing gear, take snorkel gear, Take Mozzie repellant, take luxuries with (if you cannot live without them). Forget about MTN Signal. Ohh, and a week is way too short

next question... in terms of spearfishing... decent reefs in the area accessible by shore entry? any good spots worth swimming out to/ rocky points? there will be two of us planning on spearfishing.

@seank - had a flipping amazing time. will post pics later today or tomorrow, with a trip report.

drove back from bhanga to sodwana through paradise along the beach roads - the most fun I've yet had 4x4ing, and best of all the wife thoroughly enjoyed it :)

all in all, the best camping trip i've ever done.

Agreed, hence me loving the place so much. I can honestly say I know the coastline up there, better than the coastline on my doorstep.

    Glad you enjoyed it.
Just one thing, I told you the time you went is way too short :) :( ;)
