Switch off your skimmer/return pumps, remove all equipment and then drain/flush/refill the sump. That's how I would do it.

Just dump your np reactor and pump in the dt so it doesn't stagnate.

I would say stop the flow remove most of the water ontop of the dsb so that you don't spill into the other chambers then start removing the sand into buckets. Then once the sand has been cleared out give the area a vinegar wipe down then you good to go. That's how I would do it.

Hi @shaunn, is the DSB in your sump?
The way i removed my DSB from my previous tank is that i shut down all my pumps in my system.
    1. Removed all my water from my entire sump except my DSB chamber & stored the water in containers.
    2. Fill the DSB chamber with tap water as high as possible.
    3. Get a large flat container (i used one of those plastic bins that they use to put washed clothes in - Cost about R100 from any plastics store) Make sure you get the largest one possible.
    4. Start cyphoning out the sand with a 15-20mm hosepipe. Keep the tip of the pipe as deep inside the sand as possible to maximise the amount of sand that gets sucked out.
    5. When the waterlevel inside the tub gets too high, empty the sand & water. Refill the sump compartment & repeat till its empty.
Please please please dont mix the water from the DSB with your tank!

Afterwards, just refill the sump with the water you originally took out.

I moved a DSB from one sump to another, without any issues.

Just do it in layers. Take top 5cm into a flat container.
Then the next 5cm to another.
Then the last over to new DSB.
    Replace middle section
    Replace top section.

Do not run your system. just put the return pump into skimmer chamber. The settlement will do down. Siphon it clean if needed. Do a parameter test. And I had it running 2 days later.
