Do you want the skimmer in sump or external? Do you have any space limitations? It also depends what you plan on keeping but it's recommended to have a skimmer rated for at least double your water volume.

Some highly rated skimmers for that volume (+/- 600L) are:

    Reef Octopus NW-150
    Reeftek TS2 or TS3
    JNS SK-2
    Reef Octopus OCTX 160

The last two are probably a little out of your budget but I wish I had spent the extra bucks upfront on a the best skimmer I could afford.

@SApicoreef try and dig up a little more cash if you can. Get the best skimmer you can. The Reef octo skimmer are a good start, dont even look at the TS skimmers. I have a reef octo nw250 in my sump and Im using a TS1 to cook some rock and looking at the two I can tell you that the TS is royally kak lol.. Try and get a good skimmer one time. The JNS skimmers are also awesome and good value for money and they are really quiet, wish my nw was quiet like them lol

    I vote JNS-SK2, rather save a bit if it's more than R2500.

Guys JNS have a new skimmer which will be available soon they are very well priced and the same outstanding quality you would expect from JNS.

Will have them in a few months time

I agree with tremayn, buy the best skimmer you possibly can as that is going to be the best investment you can do for your tank.

Go for the JNS range or the Vertex range - you won't be sorry. I saw these in action and the craftsmanship is top notch

JNS SK-2 fits squarely into that budget and is an awesome skimmer from what I've heard. I have been to TSR and seen them, the build quality is unbelievable. If you wanted to you could even go for the SK-3 if you are planning on going bigger in the future.

Probably going to go with the vertex as its more what I'm looking for in a skimmer(cone bubble blaster etc.)

    Thanks

Why post a general opinion question in a specific sponsors thread? There are some other nice skimmers out there. By directing your question directly towards one specific supplier you disqualify all other sponsors from offering whatever they have that can fit your original budget and requirement.

Overpaying for a skimmer does not guarantee its performance.

If you really want the options available to you, please post a open request under General or Mechanical Filtration sub forums.
