    Hi guys

Could anyone please tell me which model of reef octopus would be best suited for my tank. my tank is 150x50x70.
I have found some European web sites with reef octopus products and it seems that they have different model numbers? Can anyone explain? I have read endless post about Reef Octopus or is it Super Reef Octopus and would like to get one.I am looking at the DNW-200

    Please help.

Set up will include a sump 100x40x40

the dnw-200 is in the old reef octopus external skimmer range, what is your budget ? The super reef octopus skimmers that you saw is locally known as reef octopus bubble blaster skimmers, the bubble blaster 5000 would be a good skimmer for your tank, sump might be a bit small if you want it internal.

DNW is nice I use one but the ultimate skimmer for your size tank IMO would be the XP 2000 Cone skimmer which uses the bubble blaster pump.

Is that an internal or external skimmer

I would prefer internal skimmer as i have read that they are better?

actually most people on this forum will suggest that external is better, external also costs a bit more and you need a feed pump or you can feed the skimmer from your overflow. Visit www.aquariumdepot.co.za they are sponsors on masa and they are the reef octopus importers, so they will be able to answer any questions you have on reef octopus.

The best sized skimmer for your tank is the biggest one that you can afford! It's quite a simple answer, but it's true!

The DNW is a great skimmer, but those Bubble Blasters are awesome!

I have no experience with the Skimz range, but if Les backs them, they can only be good!

They used to be sponsors, there was a huge fallout with MASA, Aquarium Depot and sewatec.

look there are alot of alternitives, it depends on your budget

    Reefocto
    Skimz
    Deltec
    Aqua excel
Aqua medic (while not astetically pleasing to the eye they rock)

are your better brands (sorry if i missed a few)

    boyu
    jebo
    macro aqua
    weirpro

arent really top notch skimmers anymore and you are going to get what you pay for. cheap shit

i personally enjoyed the older DNW range of skimmers but i had a DNW250 on a 600lt tank. i boke to buy big

i think you should be looking for a skimmer double your system capacity as a start.

external will offer you more controll and more consistent settings than insump unless the sump space where the skimmer is situated has a set waterlevel.

at the end of the day its going to come to price..
