i find a 'flipper' to be useful in conjuction with a bigger heavier blade type scraper- I have one from Aquamedic that I find great.

Not so great on my 12mm tank. Struggles with coraline and can scratch the glass if you not careful trying to remove the coraline.

    Best is still Aquamedic.

it has some excelent features and some short commings. I like the fact i can get in close to rocks due to its think nauture and with newly attached algae it does a great job.

but it battles against older well established algaes and not brilliant against corraline. Its also quite a small magnet so its tiring on the hand if you are suing it for big tanks.

for tanks with curved glass or rounded edges a flipper is absolutley tops:)

I agree with Crispin. I should mention my tank is 1.8m x 1m x 0.8m. Thus the flipper just did not work for me. I use it on my sons 10mm tank that does not grow any coraline. No issues.

    Scraper or Magnet Cleaner?

For a scraper I use this which uses cheap stanley blades, just have to take the blades out and rinse them under the tap otherwise they rust very quickly.

    SCRAPER STANLEY WINDOW 0-28-590

Disclaimer: the blades are VERY sharp so be careful, you can not blame me if you cut yourself and bleed to death. :p

Never had a problem with mine taking off coralline, but my glass is only 10mm, so maybe it sticks to the glass a bits stronger...

I'm using a Flipper on 10mm glass. Works very nice, but can drop the inside if I move to fast. But luckily it floats.

And being so thin the Flipper can easily go in between the rockwork and glass on tanks where scaping is almost to the glass.

i use a combination of scrapers

flipper cleaner (working on 15mm glass), cheap window cleaner with blades and then a blade itself along the edges...

i use my flipper on my front and side panes and the blade combo's at the back

    but

i am still in the market for a kent scraper as they have a nice long handle....

    Or kill your fish.
I use the flipper, worth every cent, wonder if it will work as well on 12mm glass, will have to wait and see?;)

I would try those blades but I have a deep tank so it's not so easy.

Yep flipper pretty cool, I also use it. Soft part for the areas above gravel, blade part for the areas close to gravel so it doesnt pick up and scratch the glass
