I was working on the tank this evening when out of the corner of my eye I spot this!

I placed him in a breeding net in my sump for the time being.

My Bangai male was carrying eggs about a month ago but I never saw any spawn. Now to my surprise I see this little bugger, and in my sump of all places. Looks like he took a ride down the overflow and survived.

I can't tell how old he is though. Seems to be a couple of days at least. Maybe more than a week I would say.

I'm busy preparing some brine shrimp, but what can I feed him until they are ready??

Everything alive. Pods and stuff. I donĀ“t think he is a week old.
You have to enrich the brine shrimp, otherwise you end up with SFS!

    Congratulations!

Most of my baby's end up in the sump and grow there, even had one surviving a trip in the skimmer (not in sump so no power head, just circulation pump). Yours look like it is a month + old :)

Thanks guys. I can't exactly say how old he is but he is about 1/2 a centimeter long. I'm busy hatching some brine shrimp again. The first batch didn't work. Trying another method. For the time being i took him out of the breeding net and placed him in the DSB chamber. He might be able to find something to chow on until I can get these damn brine shrimps hatched.

Thanks Jacques. I'm just trying to get some food for the little bugger. I hope he will survive until I can get him some brine shrimp.

I am more than sure that he will find food to eat in your sump's DSB section, JD! So - don't worry too much! ;)

I hope so. I don't think the second batch will hatch either. It's been about 12 hours and still nothing. If I read correctly they should hatch in 12 to 18 hours. I'm using Aqua Medic's Life-A.

I'm using this method at the moment. The jar and airhose works great and the eggs get a lot of movement, but nothing has hatched yet. I'm thinking that perhaps my Life-A is too old. I've had it for a couple of years already but never used it. I actually opened a new bottle yesterday, but I also had this one for about a year or two.

    Any suggestions?

O yea, I had a closer look at him last night. He is about 1 cm long and not 1/2 centimeter. LuckyFish, any idea how old he would be at that size?

Quick update. Little fella still doing well. I'm slowly moving him over to Mysis. He is about the size of a R5 coin now, head to tail. Still not sure how old he is.

Missed your question three weeks ago.
I would say he is six weeks old. A freshly released banggai is 8 mm long.
    Chopped mysis will be fine.

    Thanks guys.

LuckyFish, I'll keep feeding him Mysis. He seems to like it.
