    A 400w HPS ballast. Can u only connect a 400w MH bulb to it.....or maybe 4 x 100w bulbs, or 2 x 250w bulbs, etc?

How many wiring options do u have?

    Wetty,

I'm no expert on Discharge lamp technology , but looking at it from an electrical point of view I would say that it is not possible to connect multiple MH lamps to a single ballast, unless the ballast has been designed to accomodate this.

Think about it : If you are connecting multiple lamps in parallel to a single ballast , the ballast will see a reduced impedance. This could potentially cause a larger current to be drawn which will not only damage the lamps , but also the ballast.

    Just a thought;)

    Hi Wetty,

it sounds like this ballast it only made for one 400 watt lamp. unless there is more than one connection point for one bulb. I would not connect more than 1 bulb to it in series or parralel! i would say that you only have 1 wiring option!
