Urgent help needed Ballast blew

    Hey guys! My ballast blew and I can only replace It the end of the month. What should I do?

    Corals:
    Montipora
    Frogspawn
    Zoas
    Cats paw
    Birds nest
    GSP

    Live stock:
    Clown fish
    3 Turbo snails

    really? why only the end of the month?

    otherwise find a beach that is quiet and drop the corals in a rock pool, be sure to let me know where so it can be your and my little secret :)

    What ballast, MH or T5? DIY lights or a bought unit?

    It did cross my mine at some point.
    Sadly Its a T8 Ballast

    your LFS should have a T8 ballast of the local electrical/hardware store

    T8's are more popular then T5

    Dude they not that expensive, try places like builders and I find Lido is good on there prices.

    Yes if you just check the watts on your globes builders should sort you out cheap, nothing special about a ballast;)

    OK! So I can then use the normal Ballasts from any hardware store?

    There are two types of ballasts (well many). The electronic and the electromagnetic. The ballast you buy from builders is a normally electromagnetic ballast and is very heavy for it's size. Feels like a lead weight. The electronic ballasts are reasonably light. Connections are different.

    A pic of the "Blew" ballast will enable us to help better.

    Thanks guys! My dad got me one from his work.
    I had an electronic ballast and now I have the electromagnetic one.
