    A recent spate of captive breeding successes, particularly with the Koran angelfish*Pomacanthus semicirculatus, had us wondering what the next captive bred*”Big Angel” would be.* Based on what we’re seeing from Bali Aquarich (producers of the first captive-bred Pinnatus Batfish), it appears that we can now add Pomacanthus annularis to the list of firsts we can attribute to this Indonesia Aquaculture Company.* Of course, the above video is hardly conclusive evidence, but read on after the break to see this project start all they way back at Day 7.

    This first video is of 7 day old Pomacanthus larvae.

    Next up, 13 days old:

    Day 15, under the microscope:

    Day 21, back in the larviculture tanks;

    And finally, the video that kicked us off, fully settled juvenile captive-bred Pomacanthus annularis, aka. the Blue Ringed Angelfish.

    The only other group I am aware of who may have beaten Bali Aquarich on this species could be the team at TAL / Rising Tide…perhaps more on that later.* For now, it seems to be a race to a captive-bred Pomacanthus imperator between probably only a handful of people in this world.* Will it happen in 2012?* It’s VERY possible.
