    Hey Gents

I want to know if anybody's using a automated water changing system.
I use NSW and recently bought a kamoer 7 channel dosing pump.

Ill be using 3 channels for alk mag cal
channel 4&5 would likely be used to dose amino acids, strontium or whatever I decide

    now my question is

can I use the remaining 2 channels to set up an automatic WC system.

    problems I see....

If the pumps don't work at the same time there will be a difference in my sump level
thus activating my ATU and screwing my SG around and will eventually overflow with
all the unnecessary RO water pumped in.

Possible Solution: put the ATU on a timer so it's off when the WC happens?

If the pumps work together I might be pulling out some of the fresh water along with the old water.

Possible Solution: place the new water entry pipe as far as possible from the old water suction pipe?

and lastly my system would be +- 800l so 10% a week would be 80l
giving me 11 l a day wich can be removed/added over a 24H period or in one shot.???

would the dosing pump last if it had to do 11l a day?

    am I missing something?

    Your thoughts Gents

    Thanks

I posted a thread around this on my mobile so can't find it. My conclusion is not to do it. It Sounds like a good idea but in the end it didn't drop any nutrients or help the system. In fact it added more issues than worth. Find the thread you will see what I listed

I wanted something similar but also
Decide against it , now I have a system whereby I open a valve and my tank drains about 200 liters and then I pump nsw into the tank
This is done when all my pumps are off.

Close to an auto change but not fully automated
Nice thing is that it takes 15 minutes to do a water change

This is the best method IMO I have the same method not automated yet though.

I also have noticed my corals like this method more than the constant water changes

Renier, I've not got any experience with that dosing pump. But 11L pd on a doser is a bit much for the silicon tubing.

@Sammy in principle I agree however I ran close to that for at least 6 months and once an hour.

Aquarium Depo runs the Same. You just have to replace the pump once a year they cheap.
