    Hi

Need some advise on the following topic,

How important is it to clean the cup neck regularly? and is so, how much of and improvement would it make if the neck was always clean?

Reason behind this is, I'm thinking of designing a automatic neck cleaning system on my TS2 to ensure it is awlays clean.

    thanks

How would you do this. Sounds like a great idea. Skimmer always seems to work better just after it's been cleaned.

The cleaner the neck the better because the bubbles anr't prohibited in any way then. Remember though its always best to clean to +-98% and try not to remove what I call a running in film/skin on the skimmer and so I find luke warm water and my hand the best.

I clean mine every three days. The oils that build up in the neck reduce friction which is what makes the bubbles rise better. I'm sure there is a more scientific explanation but that's ho I understand it

Would love to know how you plan to do this auto cleaning skimmer cup, as anything that you leave in the neck will just obstruct the bubbles.

The skimmers you can buy with "self cleaning" cups basically have something that occasionally sprays water down the inside of the "neck" but all that stuff drops back down into the skimmer so I'm not convinced that it works that well...

Shuan, I'm bad with explaining things, can't you pop around and tell her how:whistling:

    killkanga

Don't have any yet.... have any I could borrow?;)

If I tell you, I'd have to kill you.......:whistling:

Was thinking of going this way, but thought mechanical would be easier?

    I'll explain a bit later.......

Some of the Deltec skimmers have an aouto cleaning device. I'm not sure how it works
