Are wimples reefsafe?

    Are wimples (moorish idol lookalike) reefsafe? Dont want a moorish but wouldnt mind a replica ;)

    Spoke to the lfs owner now, says they not :(

    There are two species that constantly get confused as morish idol lokk alikes the one is the schooling bannerfish( heniochus diphreutes) and the long fin bannerfish (heniochus acuminatus). Both look extremely alike but the main difference is that the schooling banner is safe (first mentioned). They are easy to care and very beautiful. They look awesome in schools but you have to have a big tank for a school (I'm gonna get 2:thumbup:) Just ask your lfs for what typoe of bannerfish is it (biological name) and then you would be safe!

    mine wasnt i suppose it depends on the individual,but they generally arent!i also thought i would take the chance they r stunning fish but eventually had to get rid of mine

    i have had my wimple for over a year now and absolutely no problems!hehe

    but i totally agree with Dale it all depends on the individual fish!

    So is the long fin bannerfish (heniochus acuminatus) not safe? Does it eat coral polyps or shrimps?
