are these rocks(lr) dying???

    hi

    iv had these rocks in my tank for about 7 weeks and they have kinda started to grow this white layer over them.
    is the coraline?
    is it ok?
    if its not fine, what should i do?

    The Live rock is dead... Put in nice mature high quality live rock , say 5kg's
    and it will seed the other rock in a matter of months :) nothing to worry about here :)

    the LR you have does not seem to have much visible life on it. but that doesnt mean there is no bacteria, the corraline i see whitening will bleach to an extent but repopulate once put in your display and fed with a calcium additive..

    Good quality is normally determined by the amount of life the rock possessed after it is cured. you may even be lucky enough to get rock with small coral fragments or spores already on the rock which will bloom in your system over time..

    this is fairly rare to obtain..and if you get it you pay a much higher price per kg..
