Hi

I am just wondering, with all the new LED units coming on the market, how does the Radion units still compare with the new ones?

@JS no particular brand, but all these new ones we see reviews on and sponsors advertising

The radion was more than capable of sustaining a reef tank when it was released. So no reason why those units will stop due to newer models. Depends what you want out of a led unit.

Agree with marius. And just based on personal experience i would even pic a old gen 1 radion over any of these units we see flooding our shores... the companies like ecotech, orphek and vertex put huge amounts of R&D into their units...to be sure you get the best for your corals...

How would you say compare the Radion gen 2 with the Zetlight ZM6600 ? Anybody knows both these?

@RiaanP would you consider the Zetlight ZM6600 as a Chinese car, or somewhat better?

Zetlight ZM6600
ZM or ZT?

ZT6000 is 200W, Radion Pro is 185W.

Radion
MAX PAR: 1100
• Cool White: 8 Cree XP-G2 (40W)
• Deep Blue: 8 Osram Oslon Square (40W )
• Blue: 8 Cree XP-E (24W)
Green: 4 Cree XP-E (14W)
Hyper Red: 4 Osram Oslon SSL (12W)
Yellow: 2 Osram Oslon SSL (6W)
Indigo: 4 SemiLEDs (10W)
UV: 4 SemiLEDs (10W)

DIMENSIONS
Length: 11.8 inches (30 cm)
Width: 7 inches (18 cm)
Thickness: 1.5 inches (3.9 cm)

Physical size the Radion Pro is not even half the size of the Zetlight.

The older Radion Gen 2 are the same physical size as the new Pro.

Going SPS, and in the same space as what you can get in one Zetlight unit, you can hang 2 Radion Pro. OK, price wise the Radion is more expensive, same as the BMW. But on the Gen 2, that would be 270 what, compared to 200W.

Discussion is about

Most likely at least 4 Radions. Maybe even 6 in two lines.

You tank is wide. Double row of lights would work out better, depending on scaping options. And tank is shallow. Water would be 400mm about. Any 60 degree beam from LEDS would force you to have more units. Maybe 120 degree would work, as you do not need the punch of a narrow beam. Think even 90 degree would not be ideal in your setup.

Or whichever LED option you tank, you would get better coverage using 2 rows. Even Zetlight you would use 4 most likely. Maybe Zetlight would be better, as you do not need to light up corals on the sand that would be in other systems 600 or 700mm under water.
