    Hey Guys,

2 Questions, i have completed the filling up of my new tank, with water.

Do i wash the aragonite before adding it to the tank or is it fine to add it straight from the bag into the tank?

And... do you know of any LFS in Durban that stock the Carib sea aquascaping base/reef rock?

    Thanks ;)

I would definitely at least rinse it a couple times. It should be clean, but almost always still releases aragonite dust & may release some chemicals...

Wash it well befor adding it. It will make your water cloudy!

If you have added it to the tank without rinsing it, what would some of the solutions be to the possible problems this may cause?

I would recomend that you wash it before and perhaps ad some filter wool by the overflow for a wile cos the water will more than likely go cloudy even if you do wash it first
I'm going to be ading aragonite to my small tank on the weekend as well.i read that it is better to place your
Rock work on the glass and then add the aragonite

I put my 20 kg in a 50 liter container and washed it with a garden hose and nozzle for probably 30 min before the water was really really clear. Then I pored all the water off and later put the container on it's side (without dumping out the sand as it's quite stodgy from being wet) and drained it almost completely 'dry'.

    Scape outside.
    Then replicate scape inside.
    Then add substrate.
Then add water onto a plate on top of the substrate to stop heavy turbulence and big white clouds.
Then filter through fine wool until clear. May need a few sets of clean wool depending on the prewash.
Then sit and do nothing for 6 weeks.
