    hey guys

got a whole lot of "dead" live rock from a buddy who's on a hiatus from the hobby. need some ideas for aquascaping - my idea was to have the arch in the middle with two "towers" on either side. what do you think? :)

not sure why the pics came out so blue, need to fiddle with the camera a bit to get decent FTS's.

    thanks!

Looking cool so far buddy - just try and have as much space inbetween the rocks as possible so as not to have detritus building up - also every now and then take a loose power head and blast around the rocks and ontop them in case anything gets stuck.. but as for the design - great!

Scaping is looking good so far, Danimal. I would want to suggest that YOU must be happy with it. Not us.... As long as it is functional and not trap detritus, then I would say "by all means"..... :)

Its not an easy thing. The trade off between space and filtration. I like space for the fish to swim, but you also need enough cracks/holes for sleeping spots. You also don't want too many high overhangs that block out the necessary light. IMO it comes down to what fish you planning and how much other filtration you have (ATS,DSB,SKIMMER). Plus scaping is an art. Pablo Picasso is a genius to some and a looney to another.

Enough BS though. I like the overhang/cave but I think your rockwork maybe a little close to the sides, might be tough to clean, will also trap detritus. Good luck...

    Danimal,

    Looks cool sofar.

Just a thought , but you could either raise the archway/bridge you have by using the "new" pieces of LR on either side of the arch/bridge. In that way you build up a higher reef "face" with a natural arch/tunnel.

    OR

Make two separate reef outcrops on the left and righr side of the DT.
Each of the outcrops can then be populated separately with corals of your choice
    Hope this makes sense :p

Here's a pic to illustrate what I'm trying to explain: ( Two separate reef outcrops)

I like it a lot! The two islands with the arch inbetween seems to be in right now, heard of a lot of guys wanting to do something like that and seems you have implimented the idea wonderfully. I can invision that arch covered in GSP's or zoas of bright colours, it would definately be eye catching ;)
