    Hi guys

ok i need some help on the subject, i bought a aquamedic kalkwasser 1000 reactor and i believe it can be converted to a calcuim reactor.

now ive done the whole kalk thing and i dont feel its enough for my system thus me wanting to change it to a calcium reactor (plus thw whole Ca and Alk thing is just hectic.

now what will i need to to the conversion? any and all comments appreciated.

i can get a co2 bottle and regulator, what is needed and what goes where?

i have been to the aquamedic site and have the documentation, but im still totally confused

Hi SweetnSour - my CaRX has the unit, the CO2 bottle, and a regulator.

The CO2 bottle has the regulator screwed onto the top, which then feeds the CaRX with CO2 from a pipe, coming from the regulator.

The CO2 goes through a tiny valve into something called a "bubble counter". This is that you can adjust the amount of CO2 coming from the CO2 bottle (using the regulator).

The CO2 then exits the "bubble counter" (a little see-through cylinder, which has the following piping going in/out of it:
= source pipe from CO2 bottle, this is connected to a thin pipe that stops nearly at the bottom of the "bubble counter"
= exit pipe - where the CO2 exists and goes to the recirculating pump
= return pipe, where the water/CO2 mixture comes from the body of the CaRX

The CaRX also has an exit pipe where the effluent Ca rich water exits to the tank, and an inlet pipe, which is connected to a small pump in my sump, which supplies the CaRX with tank water.

I hope that this explanation helps somewhat.

Now - to get to your dilemma. IF your AM Kalkstirrer does not have the "Bubble counter" section, you might have a problem.

    Cheers mate.

here's the top of the reactor

what i dont understand is if you pumping co2 into the pump at the base , wont the pump burn out as there is no water going in?

and where do i out the bubble counter? where can i get one?

SweetnSour - I only have a hand-held electronic pH meter (Saga). You don't need a pH controller. This is extremely expensive usually. So - to answer you - in my opinion - nowhere. In it's box in the fish cupboard. ;)

BTW: Unfortunately I cannot see the picture you posted. Not sure why. As where you will get a bubble counter - no idea. Sorry.
