Finally caught this mantis shrimp after a month! Does anyone want him? I just have it in a little container. Would like to get rid of it asap. It is about 2cm long

Yeah lol people will line up for frags.. Rather just sell frags when you do frag.. Cant wait to get a zoa or mushroom. Then my tank will look like something :)

I wouldnt worry about the bite.

You get 2 types on Mantis Shrimps.

    Bashers and Spears.

One has a club where the other has a spear like arm.

Hence the reason they called Thumb splitters.

Yeah they don't bite. And very few can "strike" hard enough to do real damage. There is a species off the coast of california that strikes with the impact of a 2.2 rifle tho.

Interestingly, its not the impact of the strike that does the damage - its the negative pressure collapse caused by the claw moving back and forth so rapidly at the point of impact that is so powerful. Its a little effect called inertial cavitation.

In this video its the white flash of light on the shell of the snail.
