Found this a few weeks ago; it was small then and seems to be growing. Looks like frogspawn coral (I have a green one in the tank) ... but it's red. ??? It's growing on a long-dead coral skeleton that I bought when I set up the tank more than 3 years ago.

It's algae (a nice one!)... probably Nemastoma sp. Enjoy it. :)

Thanks sihaya, that's a relief... the last 'thing' I found growing that I thought was 'cool' turned out to be aiptasia! I am still struggling with it.

Did you add Iron in any form recently? Red algae grow nice, when adding iron.
Strange, it showed up after 3 years.

    But nice and very rare.

Nope, no additions of iron. added some new corals several months ago; some with base rocks attached. Maybe this came along on the rock as an added bonus.:)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I actually had an anemone at the time and I though, "oooo, it's reproducing" ... NOT. I go aiptasia hunting every couple of months now. It's strangely rewarding to watch them 'explode' when I use the Aiptasia-X.
