Caught one of these guys today...wondering if anyone has kept one in a reef? Liomera cinctimana. It's in the xanthid family, though this seems to be a small species and it's claws are proportionately smaller than most xanthids. It's about 2.5cm wide. Amazing colour:

Liveaquaria seems to think that they're pretty chilled. Same genus:

is that the same species as the bright orange ones that you find in the coral heads on NP, if so ive got a pair in my tank and they cause absolutely no problem at all, but they are very shy.

Nah, those are Trapezia. They're well known for being safe.

Think I'm gonna toss it in my reef. Should be a bit big for the wrasses and lionfish to obliterate.

Looks good enough to take a risk. With those size pincers it doesn't look like it could do any major damage

Is it very shy or do they at least show themself in the reef, unlike others who constantly hides...

Seems fairly shy so far, but I have seen it out a few times. It seems to be eating hair algae, so I'm happy about that.

    Very cool looking crab.
I still keep this guy even though he can be a menace sometimes, not even shy anymore.
