You should go to Banana beach just off Phuket it's a quick boat trip there as you can see it from Phuket.
That was by far the best snorkelling I did in Thailand.
I went diving to but the snorkelling was better.
    And it's a gorgeous island.

Hope you have fun in Thailand, I sure did

A pic we took on the beach.
Most coral around Phuket is pretty much destroyed by Tsunami damage ect but this beach faces Phuket so the coral is pretty much untouched. and there are a bucket load of fish to see. Just watch out for the spiky little Sea urchins coz they are all over the place. And take a bag of chips with.

    Good tip Mudshark
Lost and Lots and Lost of sunblock. And don't think coz it's ok to be in the sun at noon in RSA that Thailand will offer you the same luxury, Be afraid be very Afraid.
Also Red flags don't mean swim between them it means DON'T SWIM.
I nearly drowned coz of this little mistake. The currents are insane there.

Was in Thailand in December if you're in the KOH LANTA area
Try Emerald cave , 4 islands and Koh rock. As they are protected areas in marine reserves ,Most operators will now it ,great dives and snorkeling ,anything from the beaches is mostly disappointing because like said above ,the corrals are still hammered from the tsunami and there are constantly small boats going in and out ,so on most mornings you find more dead coral washing up on shore than shells . But still worth getting wet Enjoy the east
Can't upload pics from iPad photo stream for some reason ,but can post some of the underwater shots tonight if you like .
