    Hi All

I original bought two small Anthia's for my tank, I had no problems with them, about a month ago, the smaller one of the two just vanished, still to this day cannot find it. anyway, I bought a new Anthia over the weekend, much bigger than the first one. The the little Anthia is fighting with the new big one and winning :whistling:

I had to separate the two, the big Anthia is in my holding tank and the small one is in the DT.

Why are they fighting and what can I do to calm the little shit down???

The more dominant one will turn male most the times... this will continue until they have sorted out who is who in the zoo !!!

So should I put the bigger Anthia back and let them fight it out? The bigger one is already looking worse for wear.

Dont put it back until its recovered. Anthias are a schooling fish, so maybe add more than just two. This will also help spread out the bullying. Make sure you add only females.
Can you post a pic of both of them?

Also added two from one LFS into my tank fot some unknown reason one of them did not make it and also took with it my Lawnmower Blenny and a Blue/Green Chromis.

So after a week or two got another Anthia from different LFS but made sure it is a female and same size. They did fight when I put them together but just kept and eye on things. Two days and all was sorted. They do chase each other every now and then, but they swim together now.

Let the new one recover for a day or two, then swap them around for a day or 2. Then re-introduce the old one.

    Yeah give that a shot.

I have never had this happen with females I have added 20mm newly caught into my system with last seasons catch, they would have been around 50 to 60mm and no fights!!!
I never buy Goldies always catch them.
I wonder if there is a change of sex in progress? Because males will fight!
Was the new on the biggest in the lfp?

I have now tried everything, even bought a big male over the weekend, still the two are fighting jaws locked on each other. I'm now have no more answers, I guess I'm going to have to sell the one.

You should have bought a female, adding another male would make the problem worse
