    Hey all

Was lying in my dad garage. Any ideas what it is or what it may be used for. Or maybe somebody actually knows what it is. Its has a screw on bottom and inside it there is some kinda white "filter" sort of thing. The other has some kinda of "rolled paper".

RO cannisters. Before you try and use it, ask what he used it for. If there was any harmful chemicals in there. The rolled filter is the filter cartridge.

RO Filters ...cool :) so now the question is how much of an effect is it going to take to actually make this unit functional.

if you already have an RO unit, you can diy some reactors from them.

I dont think it is an r.o filter as such - but a pre-filter they put on the main line coming into the house to filter out debris and stones - espescially if you got a borehole pump.

Can be converted to a carbon and a phoshate reactor.

    Those were filter housing.

They can be used as housing for your sediment and carbon block filter respectively which can be put before an RO membrane.
(The "rolled paper" is probably a sediment filter)

They can also be used as DIY GFO and GAC reactors.

    :)

    or..... was that Robocop's.......;)

As Durleo and Vision stated, THEY ARE NOT RO FILTERS!

RO = Reverse Osmosis, which is a membrain filter. Those are just filter housing, which could be used for multiple functions depending on the media / filter cartridge used.

Looking at the picture these may have been used as sediment filters for water, but I may be wrong.

With the correct internal cartridge they could probably be used for PO4 remove and Carbon, but please don't think the "exit" water is RO, its not.
