    Hi there Reefers.

    I just cant help it.
I just love the light of LED`s.;)

I have a small tank next to my main display witch im still deciding what it is.
So far ive got some coral, small fish (mud hoppers), hermit and a glass shrimp witch i dident think it survived from the last time i went to durbs.
Caught him and he was about 10mm maybe, now his 25mm easy. Caught him in October.

Currently im used a single 50w multichip royal blue led from ebay on it.
Works nice. Culipra seams like its growing but i decided to build a nice led unit for it.

So i bought some 10w leds and drivers from ebay.
I also bought a heat sink with a reflective inside and a angle so this should focus the light a bit more into the tank.

This is what ive done so far.
Lets have a look at the heat sink and the leds.
    Used 3 x royal blues 10w leds and 2 x 6000k 10w.

    Thanx man

    Jip. 1 driver per led.
Waterproof drivers from ebay for 10w leds.

    No dimming.
Will only be able to power the 2x6000k leds with fans on the one button and the other button will power the 3xroyal blue leds.

No controller, just on and off.
I like to be hans on with the lights on my setups.

Ive build a unit that can be connected to a controller and also dimmable but ive never used it with a controler. No need to.
Dimming is a waist of time if your doing it by hand.
If your gona do dimming do it with a controller. Thats my opinion.

I can go buy a nice light unit that has all those features and stuff but it also has a nice price. And DIY is a lot off fun to do anyway.

And a big sense of achievement when its done.

    Nice build. Neat DIY

Will that heatsink be able to keep those leds cool? Being 10w leds they must be really hot when on.

or will you have a massive fan unit stuck on it?

So the 3fans on the unit will suck air in and blow it onto the heat sink (top) and then the hot air should exit the sides.
Bit hard to explain but ill show you later when its done.

Now im just to exited to get it done for the first test run. hehe

    Thanx man

I know, hehe. Cant wait to show you all the colour over the tank.

    Jip, its a 12v 5amp power supply.
It will run the one fan inside the contol box and the 3x small ones on the led heatsink.
But first im gona test to see how fast the heatsink heats up without any fans.

    Than bud
