Ok, I only need the gurus (the real ones... ) to please settle this for us, once and for all- and if the gurus have posted the pics, highlighted the differences etc, could we then please delete unnecessary comments and make this a sticky Mods??

Please, post pics of the real Semi Circulatus, the real Old Woman as well as the real Emperator.
We/Us always argue, and in two of the books I have, the pic of the semi is different than the other.:(

1.)So, we need pics of the juvenile stage, and the adult stage of each fish.
    .
    .
    .

2.)Then, when (at what size) does these above mentioned angels change/loose their circles/stripes etc ??
    .
    .
    .
    3) State the differences please!!!:biggrin::biggrin:

From what I've learned, the Juv Semi and the Juv Old Lady are very similar, Generally the Semi is very dark blue (black) with 3 white stripes (when very young), the one closest to the tail is very curved, where as the Old Lady looks more "colourful" with blue and white stripes, that are generally not that curved, it also has a straight stripe by it tail.

Hey Lighty a 'Old Lady' striatus adult is brown all over with a light brown back end.
Also have seen slight variations in semis that I've caught over the years but they are consistent in that their bands are more curved than the striatus.
Semi's can be straight black with 3 white curved lines as juvenile if they are a cm bigger they begin getting a bit of blue on their rims and curved lines, and these curved lines do become more as they get older! generally striatus has much more of these straighter curved lines at the same size and more blue!
Adult Semi's are loads better than adult 'old lady'

timhar99 = Great fish - it is the best experience possible to have a baby become a adult in your care  and enjoy ever stage + questions like - "is that the same fish I saw last time?!!?";)

Glad I do not get them in at that size!

Look quite different - black & white - when do they get the blue lines then?

This size tank will be fine to house a small juvenile, but the emperor angel will very quickly outgrow this tnak. You would need something in the region of 750L.

Remember if the fish is not happy, it will be reluctant to change to adult form!
