    Hi

I am having problems with my anemones - they last about 3 weeks then they shrivel up and start wasting away. BUT not all of them ... I have lost 2 big carpets - a 3rd one is going at the moment (I have taken it out of the tank and trying to get it back in quaranteen) - 3 or 4 sand / bibble anemone's - I have had a very small carpet anemone and one other one that have been in my tank for about 3 months - all the other soft corals are hundreds and fish invertebrates and tank is pristene - PH is 8.1 8.2 salinity 1024 - nitrates etc all good - done water change

    Tank is pretty new - started it in November last year - 2400cm x 800 x 800 -

Everything is good but just keep on losing anemone every 3 weeks or so :( They are good for about 2 weeks and then quickly over about 4 days waste away breaking up ...

    Any suggestions ??

The tank is not yet mature, I think it could be one of two things, instability in water params or light

Do you have a atu? What are your nh4 readings?

Soft corals are not anemones, looking at the pic with the light profile that's what made me think light. But now it could be aleopathy, how many anemones? Are you running carbon?

i agree with dallas in that tank is too immature for anemone's at the moment. From the pics there is a bloom of algae over some of the LR and it seems as if there might be diatoms on the sand bed....all that points towards parameters that are ebbing up and down which is going to be detimental to sensitive animals like anemone's. Its also obvious that you have a number of different species and id say that once one nennie starts battling due to differncials in water parameters, chemical warfare between different nennies will take care of the ones that are battling.
