Actually, looking at the tentacles more carefully I would go with Heteractis Malu. 99.99% sure now. :p

Ive seen them referred to as heteractis malu crispa sometimes, but I'm gonna stick to my guns and say Heteractis Malu.

I've seen these quite often in the shops and they have always been white, not sure if they are bleached as I have no experience with them, I think they may naturally be white, but best to do some googling or wait for more opinions on this one before buying.

I just had a look at the clownfish compatibility chart and it is only compatible with 2 species of clownfish, the clarkii and the maroon, might be something to consider as well before buying it.

50 bucks it's a malu (Brenda, be nice to me) :tt2: p.s. it's also known as a sebae anemone, from the pic it looks like it has short stubby tentacles which are common with the malu's.

    Bet is on :p

Well if I lose, I wont take it, since I have 2x pink skunks and 2x ocelaris clowns
So dont want to risk neither of them hosting in it.

    Tnx for feedback though.

Have been browsing pics of sebae anemones and see there are a couple of pics with occelaris clowns being hosted so it may be a possibility.

MMM ok, well I will hear what Anemone have to say.

Also my tank is about 1.5 years old now, with 8x 80w t5's.
Would especially the lighting be ok?

I was advised that it should be just fine, but lets hear some comments from the MH guys :p

    Ciao!

Not 100% sure here, but I have seen these in the LFS often and as far as I know they are Heteractis Malu's. Also I think they are supposed to be almost brownish/cream in colour...sure I was told when they white like that...which they usually are, they are bleached.

IIRC H. malu is actually quite rare.

I'll take that bet with you, viper. My money's on dyed H. crispa.

In my opinion not a malu. Its a purple tip that is serious bleached out. Sebae Anemone - Long Tentacle - Heteractis crispa - Leather Anemone - Radianthus keukenthali

    I have one

There is lot of cross naming the two. Both is refered to as sabea anemone, but the are defnitely two diff species.

I've been studying my anemones for 3 1/2 years as i bought and killed two when i started off as a newby - i actually wanted to prove everyone wrong and it was stupid - horrible but true i killed one by feeding it to death (and the cycle wasn't done yet) as i thought you had to push the food down its mouth and the other one got stuck in my old seio and i replaced them with resuns and they much safer in my opinion, hence me keeping so many in my one tank.

maxisoft, the bit after the "check this out:" comes through (to me, anyway) as a stream of letters and numbers, not an image.

    Can you repost this?
