Hey all,

I need some advice.! One of my anemones keeps partly moving of its rock and then just lays there facedown semi attached, when i put it on the rock again it justs moves down again. It looks healthy. Is this normal or is it mayby sick! Its quite large +- the size of two(girl!!) hands when fully extended.

What are your tank perameters and lighting, nems can move when they want to, usually because they are unhappy with their conditions.

definatley seems to be something wrong here.. when was it added? how long has it been in the tank? and perhaps species.. water parameters will help in diagnosis...

I have a boyu tl550 nano tank. don't know anything about lights or what they are called. in the tank theres 2 x white tube lights and 2 x blue tube lights. inside on the lid it says max 75w.

i'm sad to say the anemone died last night. its only been in my tank for about 2 weeks. my other 2 nemmies are fine.

Hi Wee-Man

how much should my phos be? I have pic in the gallery. my tanks got 9 small fish and 12 inverts - 1 x tube nem 1 x nem with purple tips 2 x polyps 1 x soft coral 1 x hard coral 1 x feather 3 x cleaner shrimp 1 x hermit 1 x red star. Too much? I like to add more inverts like maybe some mushrooms and hard corals? look at pics and let me know what u think, just remember big nemmie dead. I'd rather get rid of some fish to keep more inverts.

wow ann. thats a hefty bio-load for a nano! 9 fish... phosphates should be round the 0.01 mark or not detectible. and as for nitrates, 0 if possible but up to 5ppm is still o.k.

can u give us an idea of what fish u are keeping exactly?

Here is Ann's tank.

Ann, Different types of Anemone's in the same tank will wage an unseen chemical warfare, especially a tank as small as yours, they will fight to the death in order to survive, I fear this is what may have happened in your tank, also combined with the fact that I think your lighting is terribly insufficient to keep an anemone of that type, your anemone also looks rather bleached which is a bad sign to begin with.

Have you removed the dead anemone?

How often do you do waterchanges?

ditto to what viper said

same thing happened in my tank(CHEMICAL WARFARE)

i had a florida in one end of the tank and a unknow nennie still in same place(abot 1m from each other)

The one closed then the other one inflated, then the other one closed and the other one opened( this went on for 2 weeks until one couldn't open up anymore)

so i got rid of the florida anemone and all was peaches after that.

Ann, hows the tank going? it seems like there are a few things that might be a good idea to change or you will have endless frustrations nad difficulty. Have you managed to upgrade lighting at all and do you still have all the different anenome's? You have some lovely specimens there, it would be sad to make them fight all the time.
