Algea ID please

    Please id the algea below. Looks like purple bubbles or eggs. Some of them are broken. Suspect thats how they spread.

    Last weekend there was nothing so the whole outbreak happend in a week.

    red bubble algae - apparently difficult to get rid of.

    from what i've read, it's almost impossible to get rid of...
    you can get a foxface to control it. also look at phosphate levels, overfeeding and lighting.
    i don't have have epxerience with it myself.

    that's too small for a foxface then.

    Yes way too small. Read emerald crabs also eat it

    This algae comes and go's. If you pop the bubbles it spreads faster. I left mine, it didnt bother sofT or LPS corals in any way, and now its gone completely. I would imagine that they can grow on SPS if out of control.

    Thanks. Only softies in the tank. I think the ones that are broken are from the crabs. Will keep an eye on it.
