Alge in my tank

    I am prob just parinoid and it is all to do with the cycle but can you please let me know what this is and what I can do to fix it (if anything). The tank is in week 3 of the cycle.

    Diatoms need silicates to form their skeletons. Once the silicates are used up the diatoms die off so I wouldn't stress too much. If it's really bugging you get a phosphate sponge. Just don't use tap water for top ups and use a decent brand of salt to avoid future problems with algae and diatoms.

    Thanks Tony. I use only RO water and tropic marin pro reef salt so after this hopefully it will be a thing of the passed.
