Last night I saw the horror of horrors growing in my tank. Currently I can see only one (roughly 1cm in length) and would like to get rid of it as quickly as possible before it grows to big. I was planning on taking the rock out and then chiselling around the aiptasia (not chiselling the anenome itself) but my concerns are if I remove the rock will it start releasing spores and will chiselling a chunk of the rock out solve this problem?

Note to self: only buy dead rock next time.

sounds like a good idea... then once you have removed it you can soak the rock in a container for a few hours to rinse it

Mix up some Kalk into a thin past and either inject it into the 'thing' or place it on it's mouth. 24 hours later it will be gone.

you got so small system, that any biological method is not going to work

Best chemical option is Aiptasia-X, although buying a bottle will last you a lifetime. Maybe ask somebody for one squirt.

Other options like chiselling, is drastic. normally the foot of the aiptasia is deep inside a hole or crack. Unless you are lucky.

    Thanks all.

So if I remove it from the tank to check it should be fine?
Could I also inject Aiptasia x when it is out of the tank? Or put the kalk paste when it is out of the tank?
It is at an awkard angle hence the reason why I would prefer it out of the tank.

yes you can keep it out the tank for a while... just keep it moist, so cover it in wet news paper :)
then take a syringe and needle and inject lemon juice of viniger in to it, but you must go through the mouth and into the gastro-cavity

just ensure you do it properly, going with the chemical route. You miss it, or do not kill it, then they spread.

    Cool beans :)

One more question please: on average, how long does it take for them to grow/be visible?

that varies, but it all depends on nutrients available, stress and environment
while they are small, you might be able to add a peppermint shrimp and see if they take to them "if" there are more

    Thank you to everyone!
I got home, stared at the aiptasia, stared at it some more then took the rock out and chiselled it out (lost about 5cm of the rock in the process but it was for a worthy cause). Further chiselled the rock and saw the foot was intact and didn't get damaged when I dug it out. I got that little piece of rock and hell thing in a small container...I may end up finishing it using Tremayn's suggestion :devil2:
