Now THIS is what it's all about. Viper, don't remove him from the competition - rather change the competition rules... After all, ANY marine tank is primarily about keeping the best possible environment for one's captive creatures, and NOT a mad equipment race. The whole reason for keeping nano tanks, after all, is to make it more affordable for more people.

May I respectfully suggest that the competition be judged on merit, and not on equipment...

    Getting off my soap-box now...

Look forward to seeing the end result:thumbup:

Fully agree with the above - stay in the comp, carry on at your pace, if it's ready come judgement day then happy days, if not, nothing lost, but everything gained because you still have the nano.
A friend of mine, had a couple of problem fish that were nibbling on some delicate corals, he moved the corals into a nano with a couple of gobies, no skimmer, no sump/fuge/uv or any other add on, corals and fish doing very well.

Simplicity is sometimes best - i would rather look at a beautifully simplistic nano, than an oil refinery with a tank somewhere wedged in the middle.

There is no such thing as "only a nano" if you put your soul into it.:)

I'm not quite sure where the idea came from that we will be judging nanos on equipment. In fact, we never said we'll be judging the nanos. Members will vote on their favourite nanos :)

Exactly. My vote will be focusing on simplicity.

Come on mandarinman, what have you got to lose? Honestly? All you need is water and a tank and you're in with a chance to win one of the 3 great prizes.

What he said, you ain't getting out of it, all you can do is what you want to do, then the members will judge the best nano, and for what it's worth, i shall put my vote towards the prettiest, not the one with the most kit;)

The Nano with the best looking contents (health, selection, placement, and beauty) should be deemed the winner. If it took R 100 000 to set up or R1000 it doesn’t matter and should not sway votes one way or the other.
Don’t knock a guy if he wants to put in the best equipment (in his opinion) and like wise don’t knock a guy for using an air pump, sunlight and water changes as his means for success. Judge it on what you see in the little glass box.

I agree 100% with Mille here, its not going to be the amount of money spent on the tank that wins the competition but rather the over all appeal and in my books simplicity scores huge on the appeal scale.
