    Hi there,

I have a marine tank for approx 1 year now. Model: Jebo R3100. I catch 90% of my fish myself. I have now introduced soft coral into my tank and it seems to be going fairly well, but still seem to have a problem with red algae build up. Any tips for getting rid of it??? I administer strotium, iodine and magnesium and calcium on a weekly basis and do 20litre water change once a week. Please feel free to advise if I am doing anything wrong.

    Hey and welcome to MASA:thumbup:!

Please add some pics as normally we could see the problem in them. What flow and lighting are you running? From where do you get your water?

welcome. pictures are worth a thousand words and very useful in assiting us to correctly assit you with your problem..

i am also assuming it is a cynaeobacteria (red algae0 that you are batteling with.. if so we need to look at what your water values are instead of what you are adding, as anything out of balance can be problematic..

cynaeo is usually a redult of too many nutrients/nitrate, insuffiecient flow and possibly an inadequately sized protein skimmer.. or the lack of ability to get the problem out of the tank to the skimmer to be skimmed properly (insuffiecient flow)

we also need to look at what you are feeding and how often..as well as stockimg levels..

more info will definatley help us in solving your problem more accuratley..

    WELCOME..welcome..welcome..
Send some more info: lights - how many of what and what wattage old or new..
Pumps - water circulation per hour and how many and where are they placed..Water Parameters-nitrate, nitrite,ammonia,phosphates..ect..
Sometimes it's a simple issue as to only redirecting the pumps..to create better flow..but overall pictures does help..;)
