My 1st scrubber basically started out as a glass housing that was 10cm wide. Shown here the glass "tank" upside down with two 25mm drain pipes fitted.

The idea is to hang the "curtain rail" pipe that will bring the flow thru to the flyscreen gauze on top and then drain back to the DT.

The finished product shown installed with flow pipe and fly screen mesh.

The total actual 'waterfall' mearsured 34cm across and a drop of 30cm.

On both sides 3 x 24w T5 Sylvania GrowLux (plant lamps) provided the required lighting. Lamps coverd with my own DIY reflectors (Alanod)

    Cleaning was weekly alternating sides.

I really had no problem with unit...the only snag for me was the way I fitted it into the cabinet. The feeder pipe on the right was drilled thru the cabinets side wall, this meant I could not lift the whole screen and pipe easily out for cleaning. So ensure what ever u do, make sure access for cleaning is OK. I eventually had hair algae that was tough as nails to remove off the screen.

This unit ran for about 3 months, resulting in a zero phosphate reading (Elos Kit)

Nice work. Glad to hear it worked for you. Did it make any difference to your Nitrates?
Are you not running it anymore?

Not this model...V2 is currently running.;)

My nitrates was actually undetectable before installing (mature DSB)...however the big improvement was my phosphates...which I have yet to detect.

    Hi Adee,

For some reason I cannot see the pic's on the posts. I startred up my ast yesterday but the lighting is not right. I used 12v 50 watt downlighters, but due to space constraints, they seem too close causing spots of light and shadow areas arround the spots. I'd like to see what you have done in terms of lighting. How can I see?

    Tim

Howdy, I think your work browser has excluded access to photobucket?
