    Hi All,

I currently have a fairy wrasse in my tank. I would like to add more but am unsure if they would fight. I have seen a few people having more than one in their tank and would appreciate any advice or suggestions as to whether it is possible to add more if there is an existing wrasse in the tank.

    Thanks in advance.

In my old tank (90x90 cube) I had about 5 fairy and flaher wrasse)

I think it worked because I had one "dominant " wrasse and the rest just chilled around.

I obviously added the "dominant" one last.

Look at getting an acclamation box to introduce the wrasse to the tank, I think that contributed to my success.

Also of you have enough hiding spots and sleeping places I don't see why their should be an issue.

That is promising, thanks! :) The acclimation box is a good idea, will definitely get one.
I'm looking to add mostly fairy wrasses, not sure how to identify which species would be the dominant one though? The one that I currently have in my tank is a long fin wrasse, been in the tank for over a year now.

Another one: If they are all male would it be a problem?

You can add males of different species, just not more than one of the same species. You will probably struggle to find females anyway. Species that look similar might also cause problems, and then some are a bit more aggressive than others.

As Henkie said, get an acclimation box. You should keep the new addition in there for a few days and watch the interaction between them. I got a very nice acclimation box from Wild on Pets. Add some pvp pipe for it to hide in.

That writeup and thread is excellent. I also found it recently, and it has helped me a lot, and had made me love wrasses even more. I wasn't sure if I could post links to other forums.

One other thing worth noting is that stores often misidentify these fish. 3 of the stores I see them at from time to time often labels them wrong, sometimes even the same species weeks apart with different names and price. I queried this once and was told it's due to the labels just matching the importers' papers.

Best is to know what you are looking for, know what sets them apart from others that might look similar and disregarding the store label completely.
