Hey there guys,i have a problem with gha.after adding phosban, changing my feeding stepping up my water changes etc there has been no results.so im thinking better flow and adding a sump/fuge.
couple of questions, could i add a sump without drilling my tank?i dont mind modifying my hood as i will replace it in the future.
    could i add a dsb?my sump dimensions are 600Lx400Wx300H
here is a picture of the sump and stand,as you can see i havnt added any baffles etc to the sump yet

If your sump can be above the tank, then its easy, pump water to the sump and let the sump drain back to the display.

Alternatives would be to use PVC pipes to build an overflow, but they are error prone and not 100% safe. That would force you anyway to cut away at the back of the hood to be able to fit the pipes. Plus it would limit the ability to open the hood and slide it down the back.

Drilling the back of the tank is an option, providing you do it below the hood when open and slid down the back. Either using the existing filter box and drain water from last chamber. Else removing the filter box and fitting a slimline overflow.

overflows that take the water out of tanks instead of take falling water out the tank don't work, I've had very little success with them, they take on air and block themselves up quickly with air.

drill it and forget it, try a pvc overflow and you are guaranteed to struggle sleeping at night.

Its a quick job. Organize with whoever can drill your tank.

If he can do it at your place and you can get in behind the tank, then you can get away by just draining the back compartments.

Else, use a 90L standard Daro tank and put everything in there for a day or 2. Empty the tank and take it to whoever can drill it for you. Get the bulkheads BEFORE you drill, to ensure that the holes are cut the correct size. Or even a big Plastic 240L tub. You might get hold up, so its better to be sure the livestock would be OK in the temporary holding tanks for a couple of days.
