My system was built with the mindset of only having 2 tangs.

A PB and a Achilles. I've done my research on this tang from day one and I'm starting to look around.

Just to keep the tang police happy, display is 600L, very high flow, especially between 40-70cm high area and quite a few rock caves to hide in.

My PB is a happy guy and I have never had ICH of any sort in my tank, I'm sure the PB would have showed signs by now if I did. I've got a quarantine tank set up at a friends house with my salt with salinity and tank temps identical to mine just for this guy.

Because they are hard to get I wont be picky on size but if the PB becomes a hassle I'll do the in-tank-basket thing until he calms down.

There's a sponsor that'll MAYBE get one in the near future but like we all know they don't ship well so my hopes aren't high.

If anyone knows of Achilles at a LFS, preferably a reputable one stocking one please PM me, I'd like to go and have a look. (would obviously be a bonus if he's eating well).

ATM my PB follows a wide diet including Ocean Nutrition sea weed (Doesn't like the red though).

Tank mates will include the PB obviously, 2 clowns, foxface, 2 royal grammas, a cleaner wrasse and soon a 6 spot blenny.

Besides the CUC that'll be the only LS, I'm more of a coral guy.

    Any input/advice/criticism welcome.

Sounds like a solid plan. The two LFS's that i know get them in usually is Dorry Pets and Idol marine...

Allot better than the one I Saw for R4500 which is a bit too rich for my blood.

    Guess it's size dependent...

our LFS sells them at R1500 so i cant understand why they are so expensive elsewhere...

but the ones they do get are booked and presold before they arrive and the waiting list is long...

ha ha you can travel with fish as hand luggage but your chances of getting one are super slim :) i havent even put my name on the list yet im not too interested untill i know im not moving again... but the last one that came in was 6cm i hear from the guy who bought it..

At that price I wont negotiate size :p

Would take the chance of flying with it anyway, doubt it would handle the excess stress :(

Heard of some guys taking the lil guy before he goes into the LFS tank, that way he only gets acclimatized and introduced once.

You obviously take a risk but since most people pay a already deposit to get them they already have some money riding on it.

And remember that when you fly with a little polystireen box on your lap, the temp and pressure doesnt drop.Where a cargo plane does not get pressurized at all and it gets very cold at 20 000 ft!!!!

our LFS is very cool, very personal relationships are formed with the clients.. they are keeping a pair of flames for me that i havent paid for.. and dont have to pay for if i decide i dont want them, 1 is a little suspect so they are building it back to sptrength for me but dont want to seperate the pair and then have to re-pair them. we have a small community and they guys make good and collect what they have asked for ..

That honestly sounds awesome! Your getting me to think... maybe I should convince my other half to go to East London next month, we have some vacation time coming up :whistling:

A flame pair would be something to see! I'm just so afraid of angels, starting bit of a brain collection. Got a rather big folded brain with almost every colour you can think of and wouldn't want it as part of the angel diet :D

You may have a problem with both the PB and Achilles in the same system, both are very dominant fish and very aggressive towards each other, i had to get rid of my powder brown when i got the Achilles for the same reason.

Yea I'm aware, the powder brown's colours are very close to the Achilles as well so that probably didn't help the case.

If I cant get them to make peace I'll go as far as to separate the PB for a few weeks and reintroduce, last resort will be to replace the PB with a regal.

Do you still have the Achilles? Whats he like?

We'll I'm risking it anyway, even if I end up taking out the PB and having a Achilles tank :p
