Please help. Have a piece of Acan coral which seems to be dying off from the outer edges inwards, (see pictures, before and now).

All my water parameters seem to be OK - kH 8, pH 8.4, salinity 1.23. Phosphates probaby a bit high at 0.64, but all my other corals are thriving. It gets moderate light and water flow.
I supplement with Red Sea Reef Foundation ABC and SeaChem Reef Builder on a weekly basis. Have dipped it in iodine solution, made no difference.
Don’t want to lose this, so would be most grateful for any suggestions.

Your specific gravity 1.23 or 1.023?
When you say other corals, please elaborate.
    What do you feed it?
Why foundation and builder? What is your calcium at?
What fish and inverts do you have?
How long has acan been in tank?

Sorry, slip of the finger, salinity 1.023.
I have a mixture of LPS, SPS, clams and soft coral. Tank has been up since 2003, Acan has been in my tank since 2006, it’s grown from a tiny piece of about 3cm.
    Fish - 1 x goldie, 1 x six-line wrasse, 1 x mandarin, 1 x fire goby, 1 x blue damsel, 1 x jumping bean. None have ever worried it.
I feed it brine shrimp, finely chopped prawn meat, also dose tank with MarineSnow twice a week.

My 1st thought was stinging, but with nothing on the left side, i would think Predation. Added any new corals lately?

Nitrites virtually 0. Have added star polyps, but none are close by. In fact, I would rule out stinging. Also, cannot see anything making a meal of it. I'm baffled!

Salanity seems low to me and phosphates of 0.6 is very high.
But you have had it for a long time so it is probably used to it, still I would do something about the phosphates

Yes, renewed my lights in January and it hasn't done well since. Have moved it where it received less intense light (but similar flow rate), hasn't done the trick. Candy cane on the other hand is thriving.

Re phosphates, have recently given the substrate a couple of good cleanouts and weekly 10% water changes for the past two weeks. Another due on Monday.

Guys, just wanted to let you know that despite all my best efforts, the Acan coral has faded away to nothing. I'm heartbroken!

So sorry to hear about your loss. Incredible that you had it since 2006.
