I've been advised by most to use black 2mm ABS plastic sheet as a backing for my tank, however today I saw a tank with and was advised that its far simpler and as effective to stick black plastic film across the outside of the tank. The stuff that comes on rolls (sticker). I know coraline really likes plastic so would love the ABS on the inside, but also know that it will grow on the glass just as effectively if not a bit slower. What are your thoughts?

Iv tried abs plastic and its too dull, I wasn't impressed.. Iv decided to go with a clear background and I think it looks great. Thing is, my back glass is quite accessible so cleaning it ain't a problem..

I use ABS sheet outside the tank. .9mm thick, rigid and easy to hold in place. Easy to remove and to clean.

Coraline will eventually try to grow on the inside and block the black. Not too shaby looking. Especially wit urchins eating the coraline and leaving empty spots. Using blue and you have this dirty look in the tank. With black, it looks OK.
