My SOHO told me she's going to replace her freshwater tank with a marine tank. I thought by myself "frankly my dear...."

I am a nature lover and are of opinion that wild animals should be left in the wild and was not impressed with the idea. Weekly maintenance on the freshwater tank was easy - replace the missing fish with new ones.

She took me along to our local aqua specialist and I thought maybe I can talk her out of it. So there I stood in front of a tank, looking at some tiny worm thingy on a big rock with "feathers" weaving in the current. Suddenly it disappeared into its worm cage - it is alive! :001_ssuprised: That moment opened my eyes to the world of the marine aquarium, it is living art!

Well, we then become the proud owners of a Boyu TL-550 (due for delivery this Saterday (28 Feb)).

That moment was three weeks ago just before we went on holiday at Ballito. Yes we visited the aquarium at Ushaka, Max at Northland Pets and we saw the Euro-Spirit of Sean Harrison at the Imax in Gateway.

We got hold of a few books and visited this forum and came to the conclusion there's much to learn! Maybe the tank is a bit small and some want to change a thing or two, but it will do for now. Fact is, there is plenty of time to learn and for the next few months we won't mind staring at the rocks.....;)

Hello and Welcome to the Dark Art of Marine keeping.

It sounds like the bug has got you good and solid.

The best advice for you and your Nano, is take it slow. ;)

welcometomasa great write up. i found myself absorbed by the fact of life aswell when i first started. green weeds in the tank with cichlids just doesn't compare with corals and the beauty that marines have to offer
