I placed the Tufa rock on tube stands (stuff we use on the lab). It is hard plastic full of holes. Ideal I thought.

Looks good. Only thing I am concerned about is that you will crack the base with no support. Try to put chip board and polystyrene (20mm 30 density) under the tank and sump. That will give it a solid base.

I absolutely Love you"re Rockscaping as well as the piece hiding the plumbing. It will look nice when a Monti overgrows it...

Looking good there, its going to be a nice set up when it matures:D

I agree with Alfie, better to have a base under there

Should I put a base under both or just the sump?

Both tanks have double bases BTW. The display is 6 mm and the base I think 8

The sump is 6mm and the base 10 mm.

How do I go about a hard base in L shape? Technical idiot this side :whistling:

Hi LappiesReef - see my comment in the other thread about the Tufa rock... (about the wood base).

I would go base under both, 19mm ShutterPly will be fine just make sure you paint it well. About R240 for 1.2m x 2.4M (Builders warehouse/Timbercity etc)

Any timber place will be able to cut that on there Table saw for you, you will have slighty rounded cut in the corner due to the round blade. But best to try and do it in one piece. You could also use a JigSaw for the last few cm in the corner.

Paint it well though, you dont want it lifting from damp under your tank.

Enamel would be my choice, of course to be painted while drinking a :peroni:

Double Velvet I believe has an anti fungal substance

LappiesReef - I am VERY impressed with your rock-work. It's looking REALLY AWESOME! I think this tank of yours will be one of the STUNNERS once completed!
