3 dead clams?

    how do i tell if theyre dead?

    whe they are open put your hand over the top of them blocking the light and see if they retract.. if o they are alive, if unresponsive they may be ill or dying.. if you gimme a shout tomorrow after work i can maybe come past and assit...

    can you post a pic? are they open? where they aclimated properly? got them friday dident you?

    thats not too bad, there may be hope, they could be a little stunned from travel.. assess after 24 hours but you should get a response by tomorrow morning..

    dude mine was responding while they were still in the packet and while acclimating them, do it over two hour plus;)

    they will be to begin with.. they will peep tomorrow.. its better that they are closed tt rules out GAPE.. which clams do when they are dying..

    i think you will be fine.. just make sure they get a chance to recover.. i would suggest putting the lights off and allowing them to rest and assessing tomorrow arvie.. even then they may not be fully open it can take a week for them to fully open.. make sure nothing prcks at the, otherwise they will remain closed.. "clamming up" is their only way of defending themselves against predators.. they are defensless otherwise..

    i wouldent strss too much, did they travel by air? did you collect right away? as in when the flight (if flown) landed?

    the last time i ordered mine were put in the fridge for 8 hours... still survived but the water was cold...

    mmm that is a little long..airfreight is way better.. they probably need time to exhale the water that was fouling in the packet.. imptomistic.. lets see the pic...

    Les seen the pic, one definately looks like gape the other may still be ok, 3rd looks fine from the pic.

    Sure if there is a problem this can be sorted out by the sending party.

    im going to say they wil be ok, just dont aerate the water it will bring the ph up too quickly, are they in the tank yet?
