2Oceans - water clarity

    Was at the 2 Oceans yesterday and I noticed the water clarity was amazing. Also absolutely zero nuisance algae in the display tanks..

    I wonder how they achieve this as the one thing I know most reefers battle with (and what ruins a beautiful tank) is nuisance algae

    This is how they do it, a constant staff of aquarists and divers clean the glass and siphon out muck and their systems are very different from ours in that they are not closed systems but semi-open systems allowing very little build up of nutrients.

    That said they didnt have much of a tropical coral display when last i was there , and i never remember seeing one filled with sps or lps type corals which would represent some of our northern indian ocean biotopes through the grapevine i have heard that they may have some heavy metal toxicity due to the water that is pulled in being close to the harbour etc

    You mean IN the harbour - the inlet is infront of the port control tower
