    Hello guys,

I stated a couple years back with a 950 mixed reef and shortly followed with a 2000L FOWLER (haha - had some coral in there)....

Anyhow....in June 2017, we decided to close the 950 and convert the larger tank to a mixed reef....

So 6 months in (after having to move this tank from the lounge to to bar), it is settling in well. So I thought I will keep posting some progress pics as I go

Awesome fish selection! How is your water change regime? Would love to have a huge tank but all that watervolume scares me a bit...:m85:

Funny that....over the last couple of years, on both tanks at 10% a week - I could’ve baught another property by now

....and so you learn! After speaking to various serious reefers, they convinced me not to do water changes.... So when I set this up in June, I kept doing the normal changes for the first couple of weeks until it settled. For the last 3 months plus - NO water charges, but dose accordingly.

So - no water changes and my param are stable (with the required dosing). With one acception Fe - I have been dosing 60ml a day for weeks now and still cannot even pick up the 0.5 reading on Red Sea yeast kit.

    Readings are as follows:
    Ph stable at 8.2
Temp constant (with cooler) at 25’C
    Phosphate 0.1
No3 was 0 for some time and this doses some Nitrogen to bring up to 1 (This will help reduce the remaining Phosphate)
No2 was 0 for some time and this doses some Nitrogen to bring up to 0.05 (This will help reduce the remaining Phosphate)

KH - keep it constant at 10 requires tablespoon of Reef Builder daily
    Ca - 450
    Mg - 1350 to 1400
    Potassium - 400
    Iodide 0.06

Would value your thoughts on what is to high or too low?

Great tank. I will be tagging along to see the progress. Your parameters are good, if they are stable, then excellent.

Very nice setup, looks like an idol build. Is the white PVC pipes a UV steriliser?

Your parameters look spot on. Iron sometimes takes a while to get at the desired level for you have a high consumption at the beginning and then it reaches a plateau and stabilizes.

Hello Marius - you are indeed correct in that this is an Idol Marine Build! They are masters and have been so pleased with both builds Adriaan and team have done for me!

Yup - the white pipes are 6 UV’s - truly believe in having them. Whenever I see a fish ‘scratch/rub’ on LR or sand - switch those on for a week and problems dealt!

Shot - that is what I was thinking - I will keep dosing Fe until I can pick up first traces on the test kit

No, he is not misbehaving, I got him to assist with the aptasia in my sump and he is doing a great job so far!
