    Hi guys.

So i know this is obviously a marine forum but this last week I went to my gfs dads house in Hermanus and managed to see the biggest pond i have ever seen. For the fish lover this is something extraordinary. The pond is 1 000 000 litres with close to a thousand koi. Serious feat of engineering that i think anyone can admire. Hopefully one day i can convince him on a conversion:thumbup:

The koi are absolutely massive. The biggest ones are well over 1 meter in length

Is it only viewable for the top or does it have any glass sides?

No generator. If power were to go off there would still be fresh water coming in by means of a spring from the mountain. This means constant water changes as well. I'm not sure when I'll be in Hermanus next, but when I'm there will let you know and maybe we can organise something

There were thinking about putting in glass windows in, but because of the shear volume of water the price would be ridiculous. Glass would have to be as thick as the glass in most aquarium main exhibits.
